Creating Jobs, Protecting Our Workers Dian will fight to create goodpaying jobs for our workers by diversifying Michigan’s economy and attracting 21st century jobproviders to our state. Dian also will fight the outsourcing of our workers’ jobs that have left many of our families struggling to make ends meet. By creating new jobs and protecting our workers, she will help stop the foreclosure epidemic that is hurting our communities and help move Michigan forward. Strengthening Our Schools Dian will fight to ensure that our local schools get their fair share of state funding to help our students get a top-notch education. She knows that a high-quality education is key to being successful in this global economy. Dian also will work to make college affordable for every Michigan resident. By ensuring that our students get the best education possible, we can build the highly educated workforce that Michigan needs to attract new investment. Fighting for Affordable Health Care As a respiratory therapist at Henry Ford Hospital, Dian has cared for uninsured patients who couldn’t afford to seek treatment until a simple cold turned into pneumonia, forcing them to be hospitalized. Dian will work to ensure that all Michigan residents have access to quality, affordable health care, which will also help drive down the cost of health care for all Michigan residents. Protecting Our Way of Life Dian will fight to protect our communities and our roads from the threat of Canadian and out-of-state trash. Heavy trucks laden with trash and human sludge travel through our communities every day on their way to a Wayne County landfill. These trucks tear up our roads and put our residents at risk for toxic spills. Dian supports a plan that will keep Michigan from becoming a dumping ground for other people’s garbage. Reforming State Government Dian knows that the legislative system in Lansing is broken. She will fight to cut legislative salaries and end free lifetime health care benefits for lawmakers. She will also crack down on conflicts of interest by prohibiting lawmakers from becoming lobbyists for two years after leaving office, effectively ending the revolving door between lawmakers and lobbyists. As your State Representative, Dian will work for you, not special interests. |
